Brian and I met at a friend’s birthday party. When he showed up, I decided it was time to bring out my “A” game. It worked! We dated for a while and one night he told me that he had hooked up my email inbox to the Nintendo Wii. He is a bit of a “tech geek” so I checked the enveloped labeled “Katie” and the message “will you marry me?” popped up. I actually thought it was a cute joke until I saw he was on one knee. Of course I said “YES!”
Neither one of us wanted a long engagement so we jumped right in to the planning. We decided our theme was going to be understated elegance with a black, white and cranberry décor. We chose the Country Club of Fairfax to have the reception and my aunt made hundreds of chocolate truffles by hand for our favors. We also had flip flops to put on when the guests feet would hurt from dancing.
The best part of the day was walking down the aisle towards my future husband on my father’s arm with a room full of 200 people that came out to support us. It was both humbling and unforgettable.
